If you are interested in getting started in competition helicopter flying, then Class I is where you start. However, many people have questions about getting started, and more importantly what maneuvers need to be flow. This article covers the 8 mandatory maneuvers for Class I and staring in 2007 includes both three (3) hovering and five (5) aerobatic maneuvers.
After reviewing these diagrams, be sure to head over to our video section, where you can see these maneuvers being flown by Baron Johnson at the 2006 US NATS. For those just getting started you will find that these maneuvers can easily be flown by an average beginner flyer. With the most difficult aerobatic maneuver being the axial roll.
