Ohio Group Announces Contest Series

This is to announce a new series of FAI-AMA class contests that are being offered this year. A group of Ohio based contest pilots met at the Wreckers field last fall and decided they needed to start a grassroots series of contest in our area to promote the flying we love best. There are 3 contest scheduled so far. The primary goal is to give all pilots interested in getting into contest flying a chance to do so without having to have to go really far and spend a 2-3 day weekend away from home. Our goal is to draw pilots from a 3-4 hr drive area to be able to make it a 1 day away event. This gives them a chance to see, learn and experience what this type of flying is all about without having to spend a lot of money on gas ,hotel and eats.

Our primary goal and focus will be on class 1 and 2 but all classes are welcome and can be flown during the contest. We wish to provide hands on real time training with setup,contest rules and criteria and judging. We see the need for these types of contest to build up the pilot base for future full blown 2 day contest in the future. All 3 contest scheduled so far are 1 day events. The first contest will also include a setup clinic on sat with a contest sunday. the other 2 are scheduled for 1 day saturday contest. they are spaced about 1 month apart in the months prior to the nats (Aug) date.

#1 May 15-16th Urbana , ohio at the Mad river field Thanks to Mr Dave Milner and his club ( http://www.flyurbana.com/ ) will host my 3rd Annual NE Ohio setup clinic on Sat May 15th and then on Sunday the 16th will be a full up contest. More info to come

#2 June 12th Toledo,Ohio at the Wreckers field. Thanks to George Matthews and his club will host a 1 day full up contest.More info to come

#3 July 17th Wooster,Ohio Thanks to Mark Ellison and Bob Mairs will host a 1 day contest at their field . More info to come

All of these events are planned as contest-clinics for all those who can attend and are designed to give you a real time chance to see and experience what this GREAT form of competition is all about. So please mark you calendars and plan on coming and having a GREAT time.
