Brought to you by RCPrecisionHeli.com and in association with IRCHA, the 2009 Jamboree will be hosting a "Rookie-only" AMA Class I contest on Saturday, August 15th.
What is an AMA Class I contest? Well it’s a precision aerobatic helicopter contest for beginners, think pattern flying only for helis. This class consists of three hovering maneuvers and five flying maneuvers, all maneuvers are easily performed by any beginning or advanced sport pilot.
Contestants will fly two rounds on Saturday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon (allowing time in between for people to catch noon-time demos) and the combined scores will determine the winners. The contest will be judged by experienced AMA Class I judges.
Even if you have never flown a contest before, you will be able to learn how to fly the required maneuvers from World Class Pilots, Scott Gray & Curtis Youngblood. Each of these pilots will be on hand for instructional clinics on Thursday and Friday afternoon.
During these clinics, both Scott and Curtis will demonstrate each of the maneuvers, explain the execution of each maneuver and offer hints and tips so that you can perform at your best.
With both Curtis Youngboold Enterprises and MRC/Hirobo donating a Rave 90 ENV and Hirobo Freya EVO 90 respectively, the winner will receive the kit of their choice, and the runner up securing the other kit.
But prizes don’t end there. With major donations showing up every day we are hopeful for a deep prize pool. So, if you want a shot at a major .90 sized heli, be sure to enter the RCPH Heli Contest.
Please note: Due to production timelines and availability the NextD Rave 90 ENV, will not be available at IRCHA. However, the winner will receive a coupon for one of the first production kits available from NextD. A special thanks goes out to Curtis Youngblood of NextD and Greg Gomes of MRC for offering such great prizes.
